Small repairs pile up fast. Hands on Duty takes care of them for homes and businesses across Boston, MA. Send us your list and we will get through it, one visit at a time.
Everyone has a list of jobs they keep meaning to get to. A door that sticks, a shelf that needs hanging, a faucet that drips. Hands on Duty is a local handyman company that clears that list for you.
We work with homeowners, tenants, landlords and business owners. Our professional handyman services cover everything from a single quick fix to a full day of odd jobs. We bring our own tools, show up on time, and clean up before we leave.
You always know what to expect. We explain the work, give you a clear price, and keep you updated until the job is done.
Here is a look at what we can help with.
Your home needs small fixes all year long. Our residential handyman services are made for exactly that. We work in single-family houses, condos and apartments, and we treat your space with the same care we would give our own.
Some customers call us once for a single repair. Others keep us on for regular visits, so little problems get fixed before they turn into big ones. Landlords and property managers also count on us for quick repairs and turnovers between tenants. One unit or many, it is no problem.
A shop, office or restaurant has to keep running, and a broken door or loose fixture slows everyone down. Our commercial handyman services keep your space safe, tidy and ready for customers.
We can schedule visits before opening, after closing or on quiet days, so the repairs stay out of the way of your business. For ongoing needs, we can set up a regular maintenance routine that suits your building.
Boston buildings have character, and they also have age. Older homes and triple-deckers mean doors that stop closing properly, plaster that cracks and windows that settle. Freezing winters and humid summers make things worse, since wood swells, caulk dries out and fixtures wear down.
Small problems cost more the longer they wait. A loose tile or a gap in the caulk can let water in. A quick repair now often saves a much bigger bill later.
Many Boston landlords and property owners also need things fixed quickly. If something breaks and you need it handled fast, give us a call and we will do our best to get to you as soon as we can.
Plenty of handyman companies promise a lot, so here is what we actually offer. You get one team for repairs, painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and more, so you never have to chase down a different company for each job. Our affordable handyman services come with clear pricing and no surprises, and we show up when we say we will.
We do careful, tidy work and clean up after ourselves, whether the job is in a home or a business. If something does not need fixing yet, we will tell you honestly, so you only pay for what matters. Many of our customers are repeat clients, including property managers who trust us with their buildings. We want to be the best handyman service you have worked with, and we earn that one job at a time.

I do not give out 5 stars in my feedback assessments generally. But Hands on Duty Inc. is an exception. Here's why. My husband and I moved to our home quite recently. In a few short weeks our son and his fiance would like to have an 80 person engagement party in our home. There were a number of projects that needed attention, carpentry, plumbing, lighting etc. We interviewed several companies. The Hands on team stood out among all those we spoke to and interviewed. Even in our walk through the impressive breadth and depth of their skills was evident in their in-the-moment problem solving. When we checked their references, all of the contacts called back immediately. Each reference was a multi-unit dwelling owner and they all spoke glowingly about how much they can rely on and can trust the Hands on team staying with them for many years because of their skill and reliability. When it came to the work itself, the team arrived precisely on time. They communicated thoughtfully and reasonably about what they were doing and why. And, they noticed and shared a thing or two that we had overlooked. One had to do with the HVAC, which, though vital and evident, and having been through two inspections, had not been caught other HVAC, "experts". Their attention to detail was so impressive. They did not leave (and came back ) until the job was done. Hands on Duty treated our house with great care as if it were their own home that they were working on. Since they have worked with us, everything works as it should and better still! Without hesitation, my husband and I recommend Hands on Duty. They have earned our high regard for their skill, workmanship, and warm kindliness.Posted on Google![]()

Dilson and co did a great job with finishing up our condo renovation. After previous contractors botched a number of important details and dragged out the project for months, Hands on Duty came in and immediately set things right. They handled paint touch ups, shoe trim installation, wall repair, crown molding, caulking, shelves, and more. They were professional, knowledgeable, worked very quickly, communicated well, and did everything we asked of them. They even have an in-house cleaning service that went above and beyond to leave our space spotless ahead of the final inspection. If we had worked with them from the start, we would have saved ourselves a lot of time, money, and headache. As it is, I'm happy to recommend them to anyone needing help with home renovation tasks.
It depends on the type of job and how long it takes. Small repairs cost less than larger projects or full punch lists. Send us a few details and we will give you a clear price before any work starts.
Most small and mid-sized repairs around the home or business. That includes doors, shelves, fixtures, caulking, minor wall repairs, furniture assembly and general maintenance. If a job needs a specialist, our team can usually handle that too.
